Moviment Graffitti activist Andre Callus has strongly criticised European Parliament President Roberta Metsola for her actions surrounding the ongoing war in Gaza.

His address happened a few moments ago in Valletta as thousands of activists gathered to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and show solidarity with Palestine.

“We’re seeing a genocide happening in front of our eyes, live on Facebook, we’re seeing it happening live,” Andre stressed, addressing the angry crowd.

“And they continue supporting them, they continue getting blood on their hands,” he shouted, referring to European leaders’ support for the Israeli leadership.

“There are a lot of people complicit in this, but myself as a Maltese, I have to name a particular person who has made me feel ashamed,” Callus said, naming Roberta Metsola and the instance when she recently visited Israel.

“These people didn’t just show up out of nowhere,” he said, referring to them as war criminals. “These were already there in Israel, they had already killed thousands of Palestinians, they had already gone to Gaza and killed thousands of children, they had already been illegally occupying Palestine, this didn’t start on the 7th of October,” he said.

“I hope that she realises the responsibility she has in all of this. Maybe she went there to take photos, but now she’s ended up with blood on her hands.”

“There aren’t many words right now that can console the people in Gaza, their relatives in Malta, there aren’t words. The tragedy is too harsh to express in words.”

Today’s protest was initially organised by a group of youths through a Whatsapp channel, with activists from Moviment Graffitti and the Palestinian ambassador later endorsing it.
