‘San Dumu’ Anointed As Patron Saint Of Traffic In Satirical Post By Local Photographer
Everyone prays for divine intervention when stuck in traffic, well fear not “San Dumu” will answer your prayers.
“San Dumu” or “Saint Dumu” is a Maltese play on words “Sa’ ndumu” loosely translating to “We’re going to be late.” And who else to think of such a masterpiece than the talented local photographer Lorella Castillo, who was also the mind behind “San Ixegħlu”, the patron saint of power cuts, which debuted earlier this summer.
The design depicts Maltese comedian and radio host Frank Zammit as the titular saint, standing through the sunroof of a FIAT cinquecento sporting the numberplate “SAN DUM”, amidst a traffic jam where commuters argue and cuss, you know, a regular Maltese rush hour.
The satire doesn’t end there, a poem was added to the post dedicated to the new saint that honestly you have to read for yourself.
Will you pray to San Dumu whenever you’re in traffic?
