Second Diver Dies Overnight After Marsaskala Diving Incident

The second diver, who had been hospitalised after encountering difficulties while diving near Marsaskala, has tragically succumbed to his injuries overnight.

Yesterday, two divers were rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, with one of them dying shortly after and the other being certified as suffering from serious injuries.

In a tragic update, earlier today police communicated that, unfortunately, the diver suffering from serious injuries lost his life during the night.

They also revealed that the victims were both Polish and aged 45 and 48.

Yesterday at 10:30 am, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) were requested to assist divers who were in distress about 1.4 nautical miles off the coast of Żonqor.

The magisterial inquiry and police investigations are still ongoing.
