SOLD: Seven Items Bought At Malta International Airport’s Annual Auction
They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Well in this particular case, just replace trash with unclaimed luggage.
Malta International Airport held their eighth annual Lost, Found & Auctioned event this week and the items up for grabs left people begging to be the highest bidder.
Just some of the 78 items up for auction included laptops, toasters and pieces of mystery luggage, which are unclaimed suitcases filled with surprise items such as wines and chocolates, to sunglasses and Christmas decorations.
In total, €9,365 was raised and donated to the Richmond Foundation – a non-governmental organisation, which provides community mental health services, help with the prevention of mental health issues and provide support for good quality of life.
Here are seven of the 78 items that were sold at the auction.

Some of these were not lost and found items but were donated by airport outlets.
Richmond Foundation’s CEO Stephania Dimech Sant said “As mental health awareness increases, more people are seeking help from NGOs such as Richmond. MIA’s generous donation is most welcome and will certainly help in easing the struggles faced by persons suffering from mental illness, particularly during Christmas time.”
The money raised during previous editions of the auction helped many organisations such as The Sovereign Order of Malta (2017), Inspire (2016), id-Dar tal-Providenza (2015), Hospice Malta (2014), and The Ladybird Foundation (2013).
