The Mayor of St Julian’s, Guido Dalli, has claimed that he was offered drugs when visiting a public park in the area.

Describing Spinola garden as a drug centre, Dalli told Newsbook that several arrests had been made over the last few weekends.

“I passed through them to see their reaction and they offered me drugs,” he said. “I did not respond and called the police.”

Talking to RTK, Dalli said that after the arrests were made the council decided that the garden will have its own security at night.

He explained that a security officer will be at the garden from 6pm to 6am until new lights are installed.

“Instead of them jumping over the gates and using the place to sell drugs, the garden will be open but guarded by people who have direct contact with the police,” he said.
