Syrian Man Injured After Altercation With Libyan Man In Paola Residence
A Syrian man has sustained serious injuries after an altercation with a man from Libya in a Raħal Ġdid residence.
Earlier today, at around 9:40 am, the police were informed of a fight that occurred in a residence located on Ħaż-Żabbar Road in Raħal Ġdid.
From preliminary investigations, it was revealed that a 47-year-old man from Syria, residing in Raħal Ġdid, and a 37-year-old Libyan man, residing in Żurrieq, had a serious altercation, resulting in the former being hospitalised.
The Syrian national sustained injuries to his hand after the other man allegedly struck him using a pointed piece of metal.
The police immediately commenced their search for the Libyan man, who was arrested sometime later near the Raħal Ġdid square.
The injured man was promptly transported to Mater Dei Hospital via ambulance, where his injuries were certified as serious.
Magistrate Ian Farrugia has launched an inquiry into the matter, and police investigations are still ongoing.
