The Group Of Teenagers That Beat Up Liam Debono Have Been Arrested
Police have arrested the people responsible for last night’s attack on Liam Debono, ONE News have reported. Among the people arrested are teenagers and minors.
A police source has stated that they are not excluding the possibility that the fight occurred over a female known to both Debono and his aggressors, with a war of words between them escalating until Debono challenged them to come and fight him.
Debono was hospitalised in Mater Dei after the attack, where he was confirmed to have sustained light injuries to his face and body, before uploading a photo to Facebook showing his injuries and commenting on the fact that five people attacked him when he was alone.
His aggressors are expected to be arraigned in the coming hours, and it was reported that police do not suspect this attack to be related to the case of Police Constable Simon Schembri. CCTV footage of the attack may also be analysed in the investigation.

Police sources have confirmed with Lovin Malta that it was Debono himself that entered the police station to file a police report about his attack – police were never called onto the scene of the attack.
Debono said he was attacked by a group using a whip.
The 17-year-old is currently on trial for the attempted murder of Police Constable Simon Schembri, who Debono allegedly dragged for 400m under his car in a hit-and-run in Luqa.
Debono is currently out on provisory bail after giving a €10,000 deposit and a €40,000 personal guarantee.
