‘This Care Is Life-Saving’: Ambassador Highlights Malta’s Support For Gaza Children

After months of medical care in Malta, young Ibrahim has taken his first steps since being evacuated from Gaza.
The heartwarming milestone was shared by the Embassy of Palestine in Malta, highlighting the progress of children brought to the island for urgent treatment.
“The evacuation process has been carried out by the World Health Organisation since March 2025 and is coordinated with host countries that accept the children for medical treatment. Each child travels with one family member on a special medical flight,” Ambassador Fadi Hanania told Lovin Malta.
“The Maltese government hosted eight cases totaling 14 people and provided the needed medical treatment. The Embassy, with incoming donations, sponsored 13 cases totaling 24 people in Malta and eight cases who were sent to other countries for treatment,” he explained.
The Ambassador praised Malta’s openness, “The government always offers to help treat more injured children. The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister welcome our initiative when we request visas and necessary paperwork and provide free medical care. While some children have already returned to Egypt to join relatives, others will go back to Gaza once reconstruction allows.”
Hanania also appealed for community support, saying, “We encourage the community to help in this humanitarian situation and provide school packages for students which include uniforms, stationery, and all school needs as the new term begins.”
Malta has proven to be a lifeline for children like Ibrahim, offering care, hope, and a chance to heal. Every donation ensures more children can receive life-saving treatment and return to their families stronger and healthier.
