Thomas Bajada has been named Best Newcomer at the prestigious MEP Awards 2025, a major recognition for the young Maltese politician making waves in Brussels and beyond.

Reacting to the honour, Bajada admitted he was left speechless.

“I still can’t find the words,” he wrote. “This is not just an honour, but a reminder that politics, when done with purpose, humanity and perseverance, can still touch hearts and change lives for the better.”

The award celebrates rising talent in the European Parliament and Bajada made it clear he sees the recognition as something bigger than himself.

“This honour isn’t mine alone. It belongs to every young person who believes in a fairer life, to every citizen who shares their story with me and to every member of my small but big-hearted team working for what we believe in.”

Since stepping into the political spotlight, Bajada has focused on youth, inclusion and improving quality of life. These are values he reaffirmed in his acceptance post.

“I entered politics to listen, to do politics differently, to fight for quality of life and to give a voice to young people and anyone who feels unheard.”

He closed his message with a promise to keep going stronger than ever.“And with this energy, I will continue doing all of this with even greater strength.”
