A three-year-old boy died after falling into a swimming pool in Xagħra yesterday.

The incident occurred at 4.15pm on Triq il-Kortoll in Gozo, where police were informed that assistance was needed at a residence.

Initial reports revealed that the boy had fallen into the pool and was in difficulty.

Police officers, the first responders at the scene, administered first aid. A medical team arrived shortly after and assisted further. The boy was then transported to Gozo General Hospital by ambulance.

Unfortunately the boy was certified dead after some time at the hospital.

Magistrate Bridgette Sultana is leading an inquiry and police investigations are ongoing.
