Tourists Spend Exactly This Much On Average While Holidaying In Malta

Tourists visiting Malta spent around €827 per person on average in the first nine months of 2018, new statistics released by the National Statistics Office have revealed.

The new statistics reveals the average budget of tourists who visit Malta, as well as the sleeping habits of tourists to Malta, between the months of January and September 2018, and gives an insight into the type of people who visit Malta for a vacation.

Tourists spent a total of €1.7 billion while holidaying in Malta in the same period

This was an increase of 9.3% compared to 2017. In September alone, tourists were estimated to have spent €242.7 million, an increase of 4.8% over the same month in 2017.

There was also an increase in the sheer amount of inbound tourists to the island

Just over two million inbound tourists trips took place between January and September, with 2,036,841 trips occurring, which was 15.6% more than in 2017.

Moreover, tourists were spending more time in Malta, with a 10.2% increase in total nights spent in Malta

Tourists spent a total of 14.8 million nights in Malta in the first nine months of 2018, with the largest amount of guest nights being spent in collective accommodation establishments such as hotels, hostels, and guesthouses.
