Tremor Strikes Malta On Good Friday Morning

A tremor was experienced in various areas of Malta this morning.
Following two earthquakes in the eastern Mediterranean, seismic activity was reported in various parts of Malta.
The Seismic Monitoring and Research Group at the University of Malta (UOM) reported that at approximately 8:12 am local time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck Greece, in the area close to the city of Kalamata.
“This area of Greece is typically affected by earthquakes related to the Hellenic subduction zone,” a spokesperson for the UOM group told the newsroom.
Numerous residents from different Maltese localities took to social media to discuss the Good Friday morning occurrence.
While Malta experienced dozens of tremors last year, local experts reassured the public that such activity is periodic and should not cause any concern.
