Contrary to popular belief, it turns out Malta’s youths aren’t just lazy buggers without a job or education. According to Eurostat‘s latest survey to see how young people in Europe are doing.
The survey consisted of seeing how many people between the ages of 15-24 are unemployed or not having any sort of education or training.
Malta is currently sitting in the 10th position out of the EU 28, with a percentage of 8% in the first quarter of 2018
The EU’s average, on the other hand, is estimated at 10.6%

The EU’s value is as low as it had been in the first quarter of 2008, and the lowest since the series began in the first quarter of 2006.
Perhaps slightly overshadowing Malta’s “quite okay” ranking is the EU’s weak scores in recent years.
During the first quarter of this year, the results registered have been the lowest in NEET rates since the study first started in 2008.
The country fairing the best is The Netherlands, with a 4.1% rating. They’re followed by the Czech Republic with a 5.7% and Sweden with a 6.2%.
Malta, on the other hand, has come a long way since registering over 10% back in 2015, but this is still not the lowest this percentage has been. That wold be the last quarter of 2016, when the country registered a mere 7.3% of young people who weren’t employed or studying.
