Two Men Arrested: San Pawl Il-Baħar Attempted Robbery Interjected By Police At 3am
Early today, a police sergeant and constable who were on patrol in San Pawl il-Baħar managed to stop a shop robbery midway and arrest the two men involved at around 3.00am.
The officers heard some shouts coming from the shop located in Triq il-Maskli.
As soon as the pair arrived at the location, they witnessed two individuals attempting to commit a robbery.
The officers immediately instructed the men to remove the weapons from their hands and obey their orders.
While one of the men obeyed the police’s order, the other made a run for it and dashed inside the shop.
Other officers immediately arrived at the location and started searching for the man. After a while, a noise was heard from inside the shop’s warehouse, and the individual was spotted struggling with the garage door.
Although he tried to escape once again, his attempt was interjected by the police.
A medical team arrived on the scene to assist the shop’s workers; a 29-year-old woman and a 44-year old man. The latter sustained some injuries after one of the robbers put a sharp weapon to his back. The man was later confirmed to have sustained minor injuries while the woman was injury free.
An inquiry into the matter was launched by police Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo and police investigations are still underway.
