Two Paceville Bouncers (One Unlicensed) Who Brutally Beat Up Maltese Youth Given Suspended Sentences
Two foreign bouncers have been given suspended sentences after pleading guilty to grievously injuring 22-year-old Nicholas Aquilina from Marsa. Croat Miroslav Sasic and Romanian Nicolae Dobra were handed a 46-month prison sentence between them, suspended for four years after pleading guilty to the accusations.
The incident had occurred in Paceville on the 24th of February, 2016. Aquilina had attempted to stop the two bouncers from beating up another club-goer, whereupon they turned on him violently. They caused severe damage to his face, eyes, and lips, amongst other injuries, and he had to be taken to Mater Dei where he had to be operated on due to the grave nature of his injuries.
They were also accused with lightly injuring Larkin Stafrace, as well as voluntarily breaking the public peace. Sasic was also accused of working without a proper license.
The bouncers admitted guilt in the face of these accusations, and Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech, aside from the suspended sentences, gave protective orders for Aquilina and Stafrace for a period of three years.
Inspector Elton Taliana prosecuted.
