Valletta Mayor Warns Lawbreakers He Will Show Up On Their Doorsteps With Police

Valletta mayor Alfred Zammit has sounded a warning to lawbreakers that he is ready to personally show up on their doorsteps along with the police.

“Everyone who lives and works in Valletta should be proud to do so, and therefore lawbreakers will find me on their doorsteps, along with the police,” Zammit said, posting photos of rubbish bags left on the street outside waste collection hours.

Several people praised the mayor’s approach, warning that many people won’t learn to obey the law unless they are punished for breaking it.

Discussion on Valletta’s future has intensified in recent weeks in light of a new law that allows several establishments in the capital city to keep the music on until 1am.

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech warned today that the law will turn Valletta into “another Paceville”.
