Seasoned Maltese singer Joe Cutajar has passed away at the age of 83.

Tributes have begun to pour in, with singer and songwriter Mark Spiteri Lucas expressing that Malta has lost a music legend.

Born and bred in Valletta, Cutajar will be most notably remembered for his appearance in the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Helen Micallef in 1972, where they performed “L-Imħabba.”

The duo made a comeback with their iconic song at the 50th Anniversary of Malta’s Eurovision.

Cutajar’s illustrious singing career spanned several decades, taking him to numerous countries, including the UK, where he graced the stages of London’s West End as a cabaret artist for two years during the 1960s.

Remarkably, he continued performing until just a few months ago.

Lovin Malta extends its deepest condolences to Joe’s family.
