‘Vuċi Għall-Annimali’ Awards Malta’s Most Influential Contributors To Animal Welfare
As an ongoing celebration of Malta’s unsung heroes of animal welfare, “Il-Vuċi Għall-Annimali Awards 2024” were given to two of the most influential contributors.
In the ‘Unsung Animal Warrior’ category which celebrated lone individuals who triumphed for the cause, Fabio Spiteri took home the victory for his steadfast commitment to supporting abandoned animals through unique and athletic methods.
“This award is to all animal activists,” Spiteri said on Facebook, “Together we can help the voiceless.”
As a runner-up for the category was Angelique Lofaro, who tirelessly contributed to the rehabilitation and rescue of land and marine wildlife with Nature Trust Malta.
The titular Vuċi Għall-Annimali Award was awarded to one of the leading animal welfare organisations that have advocated for abandoned animals time and time again. The Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA) was crowned the prestigious award for their long-term efforts that have been transformative for animal laws and overall protection.
Coming in close were BirdLife Malta, taking the runner-up spot for its extensive works with avian conservation, rehabilitation and honourable legal battles for the protection of turtle doves and finches.
These worthy winners were chosen from a selection of 350 public nominations and rigorous matrix scoring to ensure fairness for all participants.
At the end of the day, any of those who selflessly aid our local critters are heroes through and through!
Congratulations to the winners and nominees.
What do you make of these heroes’ accomplishments?
