Banners asking for the truth have been mounted on the eve of the two-month anniversary of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder in locations around the island, such as above the Santa Venera tunnel.

It is still unknown who put up the large banners saying “We want the truth. The whole truth” but the timing coincides with a memorial that was held in Bidnija this morning, after a mass in the village.

At the memorial, which was attended by Peter Caruana Galizia as well as Maltese MEP David Casa, mourners held up posters and banners saying “We want to know WHO. We need to know WHY”.

They gave voice to those who have not been convinced by the recent arrest of multiple suspects and call for the murder investigation to continue until the real masterminds behind the assassination are found.

Malta was rocked to its core two months ago when news of Ms. Caruana Galizia’s assassination spread throughout the island, and soon after, the world.

The latest banners follow on from a set of banners that appeared on the one-month anniversary of her death, with the phrase “The Situation Is Desperate” printed on those banners, as well as regular demonstrations by campaigners such as the Civil Society Network.
