Watch: ‘Don’t Call Me A Nazi’, Maltese Activist Says After His Pro-Trump New York City Interview Goes Viral

“I have no problem if you don’t agree with me, but don’t call me a Nazi or a sexist just because I like Trump’s views.”

That’s what young Maltese activist and Leħnek founder Miirko Sant had to say on the Sayan Cassar Podcast. Sant, who went viral for being a vocal supporter of Trump in an interview on election night in New York, revealed that his endorsement of the President-Elect had led to harsh labels and accusations from critics on the far left.

The remark came when Sant shared his experiences in the US and his take on American politics. When asked about his time in New York, Sant described it as “one of the most liberal places in the world,” noting how the demographic skews left, especially on social issues. Yet, he was taken aback by the unfiltered support for Trump he observed.

“Even on the streets, in restaurants, you’d see people wearing MAGA hats without a care in the world,” Sant said. He pointed out how Trump’s popularity has grown to a point where supporters no longer feel the need to hide their allegiance. “Trump has become so powerful and gained so much of the public’s trust that people aren’t embarrassed to support him.”

Sant explained his reasoning for liking Trump, noting his appeal as an outsider. “People are fed up with the establishment, especially in the West,” he said. “The fact that Trump goes in front of a crowd without a script, just saying what he feels, makes people feel he’s genuine.” Sant described Trump as having successfully portrayed himself as “the people’s candidate.”

However, Sant also acknowledged the challenges of supporting Trump in today’s polarised climate. “People who are on the far left can be really intolerant of ideologies that differ from their own,” he said. Referencing a video where he was seen supporting Trump, Sant expressed frustration at being unfairly labelled.

Sant didn’t hold back on other political figures either. Referring to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris as “l-oħra” (the other one), he criticised her lack of accessibility. “She didn’t go on any podcast except Call Her Daddy, which, honestly, I had never even heard of until she went on it,” he quipped. He contrasted her scripted appearances with Trump’s unscripted authenticity, suggesting it’s one of the reasons why Trump resonates with so many people.
