Watch: Large Dolphin Pod Filmed Off Maltese Coast

A large pod of beautiful dolphins was spotted and filmed off the Maltese coast over the last weekend, in a surreal video that feels straight out of a documentary.

The footage was captured by none other than Henry Copperstone, a local videographer, and freediver who is known for his exploration of Malta’s waters and beyond.

“Dolphins at the Sataya Lagoon? Absolutely not, these are some of our homegrown locals here in Malta during this morning’s boat trip,” Copperstone said when sharing the impressive clip.

“We need to appreciate what little marine life we have here and have respect for them,” he told Lovin Malta.

“They just loved interacting with us as they do with all kinds of marine creatures large and small, why should we be different? At sea it’s on their terms, if they don’t like it, trust me, they are gone in a second,” he said.

Copperstone was recently diving in the waters of Sataya Dolphin Reef in Marsa Alam, Egypt, where he came up close and personal with some beautiful dolphins. This time round, he’s bringing us the footage straight from Maltese waters.

Dolphins can be typically spotted in the early hours of the morning around the Maltese islands, with many liking to frequent spots close to fish farms.

Have you ever seen this many dolphins up close?
