Police are looking for a man caught on CCTV robbing an art gallery in Old Treasury Street, Valletta. Footage shows a man peering into Iniala5 Gallery on Thursday before slowly entering the building as the gallery workers are upstairs preparing for an Arts Council event.

Glancing around the gallery, he eventually moves towards the desk before opening up a bag and removing a Macbook Pro, hiding it under his shirt, and walking out.

Maria Galea, the managing director of the gallery and the owner of the stolen Macbook Pro, spoke to Lovin Malta following the ordeal.

“Thursday morning whilst we were setting up for an event at the gallery, this man entered the gallery with the clear intention to steal. As seen in the footage my personal laptop has been stolen from my bag which was underneath the desk. If anyone is able to recognise the individual kindly notify me immediately so that I can revert back the information to the police,” she said.

She also pointed out that all of their galleries are fitted out with CCTV cameras as well as alarms. Maria is hopeful that someone will recognise the thief and asks anyone with any information about the robbery to contact the police or the gallery.
