Watch: MasterChef Winner Nicolas Bezzina To Donate €25,000 Prize Money To Charity
MasterChef Season 1 winner Nicolas Bezzina will be donating the €25,000 prize money to charity, he revealed in an interview with Lovin Malta.
When asked by a Lovin Malta journalist what he plans to do with the money, Nicolas answered, “I knew this question was coming”.
“My wife and I had discussed what I would do with the prize money at the start of the competition. Luckily, both of us work and we’ve both been working for 20 years now.”
The dentist went on to say that for this reason, they decided to “donate the money to charity”.
Nicolas added that while the pair is undecided as to which charity will be receiving the donation, they will make a decision once the money is “in [their] hands”.
The dentist also disclosed the reason for refusing the possibility of opening his own restaurant with dB group, an opportunity granted as part of the prize.
Nicolas said he wholeheartedly loves his job and that he has an extremely busy schedule, with his own private practice as a dentist, and his work as a dentistry lecturer at the University of Malta, and a consultant at Mater Dei.
However, Nicolas will be collaborating with dB Group’s Spanish restaurant Espiral to give his own twist to their current menu.
What do you think about Nicolas’ plan for his prize money?
