Watch: Pedestrian Crossing The Coast Road Narrowly Avoids Getting Run Over By Traffic – Twice

Last night, a van driver caught a video of a pedestrian who got very lucky in a pair of very near misses – while trying to cross a three-lane road in near pitch-black darkness.

The dashcam footage was captured last night along the Coast Road in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq at around 8.16pm.

“I was driving along the coast road last night, close to the Salini hotel,” Bojan told Lovin Malta.

Fortunately, Bojan saw the pedestrian crossing the road early enough that he was able to hit the brakes (and the horn) in time to slow from a speed of 64km per hour to around 30km per hour.

He managed to avoid hitting the pedestrian by a fairly safe distance.

Still, his quick reflexes saved the pedestrian from being flattened in one lane – but when they then scurried into the next, they had a much nearer miss with yet another passing car.

“I have never seen this before,” said Bojan.

The pedestrian was lucky not to have been hit (twice) – and probably should have used the zebra crossing at a set of traffic lights 20 metres up the road.

Either way, we’re glad nobody was hurt. Be safe out there.
