Members of a group of Maltese teenagers who had been causing chaos around Sliema have been identified and arrested, the town’s mayor has announced.

Taking to social media late last night, John Pillow was following up on a number of CCTV videos he had published earlier in the afternoon showing the group of young boys and women not only vandalising a number of stores around his locality, but also at one point throwing items at a frustrated staff member.

“The police have already identified and arrested some people from this group,” Pillow wrote, sharing a photo of the police car spotted near Sliema’s Qui Si Sana. “I would like to thank the shop owners and other people who have not stopped sending me videos and comments about this group of young people.”

“I am informed that currently part of this group is in Qali touring the Beer Festival,” Pillow continued.

“As a Mayor and also the Local Council, we will not tolerate any type of crime in our locality and encourage the authorities to take the necessary steps to maintain law and order in our community,” he warned.
