Your Prayers Have Finally Been Answered: Starbucks Is Coming To Malta

Article Featured Image

Maltese people rejoice.

We will be getting our first Starbucks outlet next year thanks to db Group who secured a license agreement with the chain. These guys are the people behind the City Centre project in Pembroke which is also scheduled to open its doors in 2019.

MaltaToday reported that the news was announced yesterday at a private meeting for stockbrokers who have invested in db Group. The project will be a license partnership rather than a franchise, that means that the US behemoth will have more control over local operations.

It is rumoured that Starbucks licensing can cost up to €269,000. Arthur Gauci, chief executive officer of db Group said that the license agreement was part of the group’s plan to sustain their asset and revenue expansions.

A license agreement means that Starbucks will have the final say and control over menus, promotions, training and store designs. Db Group will however be responsible for the running of the outlets.

Over the last 40 years, db Group has had many international relationships with household names such as Hard Rock Café and RIU Hotels & Resorts.
