A 69-year-old man from Żejtun has been identified as the man retrieved from the sea near St Peter’s Pool in Delimara, in the limits of Marsaxlokk.

The man, who was declared dead on the spot, was seen floating near the sea yesterday, before some nearby people who saw his body brought him onto the land. He was given First Aid by members of the Red Cross.

It is as yet unknown where the man fell into the sea as his body might have ended up in that area due to underwater currents. Magistrate Joseph Mifsud has appointed various court experts to assist in the inquiry.
