Gas distributor Lee Borg is facing serious legal consequences after pleading guilty to harassing Environment Minister Miriam Dalli through fake Facebook profiles.

The 32-year-old Żurrieq resident was fined €5,000 and had a restraining order issued against him after he admitted to engaging in this harassment since September 2022.

During the proceedings, Borg revealed that he constructed three fictitious Facebook profiles to deliver derogatory messages to the minister.

While the specifics of his messages remain undisclosed, Borg reportedly branded Dalli as a dictator and a cruel individual.

Additionally, Borg criticised what he referred to as Dalli’s “shady mafia government” and taunted her regarding being blocked on Facebook like other ministers had done.

Borg pleaded guilty to charges of harassment and misuse of telecommunications equipment before the Court, presided by Magistrate Monica Vella, who imposed a fine of €5,000 on the accused and issued a restraining order in favour of Dalli.

The Minister was represented by her sister Veronique Dalli, while Errol Cutajar represented Borg.
