‘Love Will Win Over Meloni’s Hate’: MEP Cyrus Engerer Marches With 300,000 People At Milano Pride
Maltese MEP Cyrus Engerer participated in the Milano Pride march this week, speaking and marching alongside over 300,000 people “against fascism and for equality”.
Engerer joined the spirited crowds in Italy, reinforcing Malta’s commitment to equality and promoting the upcoming EuroPride 2023, set to be hosted in Malta next September.
“I’m here to give hope to Milano and hope to Italy because you are the definition of courage. You have achieved so much throughout the years. Have overcome many hurdles and you will overcome this one too,” Engerer stated.
He emphasised that “Italy is the definition of what Europe is. Europe of equality. Europe of solidarity. Europe of love. And we, the European Parliament are with you in the fight for equality”.

Engerer shared his experience at the Milano Pride on his social media, stating, “What an honor and a privilege to have been invited to speak and march with 300,000 people against fascism and for equality!”
He further praised Milan and Italy for embodying the spirit of Europe with their commitment to “equality, solidarity, and love.”
Emphasising that these values would triumph over hate, Engerer’s message underlined Malta’s stance in the fight for equality.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Buttigieg, the Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality, represented Malta at the Pride March in Vienna. Her presence served to highlight Malta’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community and its forthcoming milestone event, EuroPride 2023.
