Lovin Malta is the most-watched Maltese online video platform, according to new figures published by the Broadcasting Authority.

The survey found that around 20% of respondents used lovinmalta.com as their primary source for watching online programmes. Only Facebook (88%) and Youtube (34%) did better.

Lovin Malta is also the most popular across all age demographics, with TVM (7.5%) the next best.

It would appear though that Facebook is also the primary platform for watching online Maltese programmes and the survey does not go into greater detail about people’s viewing choices.

Mobile, meanwhile, is the most used device to watch online programmes (90%).

However, it should be noted that the figures must be taken with a pinch of salt, with the BA conceding that the responses were far too low.

Times of Malta is the most followed online news portal. However, the survey indicates that the majority of people (44.5%) follow the news on TV compared to 17.5% who get their news online.

Still, the survey does give some indication of the current state of print media, which did not even register on a survey asking where people consumed their news.

When it comes to TV, news remains the most popular, with 72.3% indicating this as one of their favourite genres. TVM is the most watched TV station, while ONE receives almost double (25.6%) of viewers when compared to Net (12.4%).
