Localities across the island have been hit with a major power cut this afternoon.

Everywhere from Sliema to Valletta to Naxxar reportedly lost power at around 2:40 pm today. Some localities, such as Mrieħel, reportedly still have electricity.

Enemalta’s CEO has told the Times of Malta that the blackout was due to “problems on the interconnector from the Italian side.” He did not give a time when the power was expected to return, though he said engineers were working to fix the problem.
