Male Mater Dei Nurse Hid Camera In Female’s Staff Toilet And Attached A Power Bank To Extend Its Life

A male Mater Dei nurse has been unveiled as the peeping tom at Malta’s national hospital after he pleaded guilty to having installed hidden cameras in female staff toilets.

Last October, Lovin Malta revealed that a secret camera had been discovered in the women’s staff toilet in the emergency department at Mater Dei Hospital.

The device was found hidden behind a bin, with a power bank designed to extend its battery life attached to it, The Times of Malta has reported.

Alexander Borg, 28 from Fgura, will be sentenced on Monday. However, his lawyers have argued that a prison sentence would be ill-advised, pointing to Borg’s “immaculate” criminal record.

Meanwhile, Inspector Colin Sheldon said he was not seeking a prison sentence but advise psychological help.

Undercover footage of this nature is considered a sex crime in Malta.

Bail was granted against a €500 deposit, a personal guarantee of €5000, a curfew and a duty to sign the bail book every day.

There’s been an alarming reoccurrence of peeping tom’s around the island. At the end of October, a woman discovered a man in the ladies bathroom’s near Exiles in Sliema.
