The Met Office at the Malta International Airport has issued a strong wind warning for Malta, especially its most exposed areas.

A Yellow Warning, advising the public to be aware of the situation, was issued by the Met Office this morning.

It noted that a strong west-northwest will prevail over the islands and will “occasionally turn very strong in some places”.

The warning will remain in place until 9pm this evening and will be renewed depending on how the situation develops.

Wind speed is expected to reach force six by the evening and could increase further to force seven by tomorrow.
