Malta Central Bank Plays Down Claims Its Workers Chanted ‘Viva L-Labour’ At Christmas Party

The Malta Central Bank has played down reports by NET that its workers had broken out into a chorus of Viva l-Labour at its annual Christmas party.

“We will wait for the promised ‘proof’,” a spokesperson for the Central Bank told Lovin Malta. “Meanwhile, the facts speak for themselves.”

NET journalist Joe Mikallef has pledged to publish proof of his claims during tonight’s episode of Sorsi Infurmati in what would be a response to suggestions by ONE TV journalist Karl Stagno Navarra that he had doctored a video.

Sorsi Infurmati recently published a grainy black and white footage of people dancing while Viva l-Labour played in the background. However, Stagno Navarra has revealed that this was nothing more than a promotional video of a Barcelona nightclub with chants of Labour supporters superimposed over it.

However, Mikallef has insisted the video was meant to be a reconstruction of the party and not secret footage of the actual party, even though the programme didn’t state this was the case.

“It’s normal practice to use reconstructed scenes during TV programmes,” he told Lovin Malta. “We never said that was footage of the actual party but we will publish proof during tonight’s episode.”
