Malta Defeats Iceland In Men’s Tennis On Opening Day Of GSSE

The Games of the Small States of Europe have kicked off in style with Team Malta already picking up a big win.

Malta defeated Iceland in the men’s doubles category of tennis, with players Matthew Asciak and Matija Pecotic winning their opening round earlier today against the Icelandic duo of Magnusson/Rustic with a score of 6-1; 6-0.

“This overwhelming victory serves as a self-evident statement of the great form and thought-out preparation Team Malta has undergone in the recent years leading up to the event,” the Malta Tennis Federation said after the win.

“Tomorrow, Team Malta has two matches in the men’s singles category and one match in the ladies’ doubles category. Well done to all the players, and we look forward to more great results during this tournament.”
