Malta Expecting Well Over 200,000 Arrivals And Departures Over Santa Marija Weekend
The Malta International Airport is gearing up for a surge in passenger traffic ahead of the Santa Marija public holiday weekend.
The peak travel week is forecasted between 12th and 18th August, with an anticipated 216,922 passengers arriving in or departing from Malta. The airport is expecting over 33,700 passengers on its busiest days, which are predicted to be 15th, 22nd, and 29th August.
In July, the airport saw an unprecedented 951,861 passengers, a 12.2% increase from the record numbers in 2023.
This made this year’s July the busiest month in the airport’s history, surpassing 900,000 passenger movements for the first time.
This achievement was bolstered by a 14.1% increase in aircraft movements, totalling 6,054 flights to and from the airport.
The busiest day was 25th July, with 214 flights arriving and departing.
With seat capacity up by 11.5%, an impressive 89.7% of all seats were occupied, highlighting the high demand for summer travel.
Italy remained the top market for the airport, capturing 25.5% of the market share, followed by the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Poland.
