The gig economy has taken Malta by storm but a recent protest from Bolt Food couriers over poor earnings and working conditions have placed the industry under the microscope.
Still, the government is yet to take action despite pledging to do so more than two years ago.
In three minutes, Jon takes a look at the issues plaguing the industry, whether that’s employers and fleet agencies who take roughly half their salary or the many customers out there who love to pontificate about the world but play a part in the abusive system.
He details how scores of non-EU workers are being imported into the country to find themselves in modern-day slavery with the blessing of the government.,
