‘Malta Must Bury Another Daughter’: Roberta Metsola Weighs In On Tragic Birkirkara Murder
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has spoken out about the brutal murder of Nicolette Ghirxi, which occurred late last night.
“Nicolette Ghirxi should be alive today. Instead, Malta must bury another daughter,” Metsola wrote, sharing a photo of the victim.

“Another woman murdered, with her former partner the prime suspect. Our grief must turn into action. Our anger must fuel change. The epidemic of violence against women cannot go on. Not one more. Be their voice,” the EP President added.
Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà held a press conference earlier today, providing a detailed account of the events that unfolded in the early hours of the morning. The situation ended with the police shooting and killing the suspected murderer, Edward William Johnston, in St Julian’s after he aimed a replica gun at them following hours of negotiations.
