Malta’s Premier League will not only have a completely new format next season, but a new logo and main sponsor too.
The new logo was selected following a public call, although some tweaks were made to the winning design to turn it into a golden winged crest with an image of a Maltese falcon.
The league’s new sponsor, 360Sports, has also been added to the crest and the league itself has officially been renamed 360Sports Malta Premier.
Malta Premier chairman and former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat described the deal as “the largest private sponsorship in Maltese sports history” and another step towards the professionalisation of Maltese football.
“360Sports, a sports information and services company, has invested over €600,000 over a three-year period to rename the league 360Sports Malta Premier,” he said. “Thanks to this and a further €1 million injection, the income of Premier League clubs has increased by 800% and the 360Sports Malta Premier will register a surplus in its fast season.”
“There is still a lot of room for improvement and this season will be a learning curve. It is easy to leave things as they are and complain about them, but it is harder to work and change. However, we have already started reaping the fruit.”
