Malta Reacts To Keith Schembri’s Assets Being Frozen
Maltese politicians, journalists and citizens alike have reacted to the news that former Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri’s assets have been frozen. And it wasn’t only him, with other key people also coming under the court’s hammer.
Long-awaited by some, this late night development on Independence Day has led to some strong comments from people who have been calling for such a measure to be taken for years.
1. Matthew Caruana Galizia, the son of slain Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, said that this development was “despite our criminal government and not because of it”.
2. And journalist Jacob Borg reminded us just how long people have been waiting on this.
The headline we should have read in April 2016 when the Panama Papers came out. https://t.co/Wdb5akmMTP
