Malta Revealed To Have Highest Rejection Rate For Schengen Visas

A new infographic analysing rejection rates for Schengen Visas has revealed that Malta leads the pack when it comes to the highest rate across Europe.

Looking into rejection rates from 2022, Schengen Visa Info found that Malta is the number one country when it comes to rejecting visas – with a rate of 36.4%.

Sweden comes in second place with a 29% rejection rate, followed by Belgium at 28.4%.

Schengen visas give access to most European countries found within the Schengen Area, the largest free-travel zone in the world – and that includes Malta.

Once someone is given a Schengen visa – which is the most common visa for Europe – it enables its holder to enter, freely travel within, and leave the Schengen zone from any of the Schengen member countries.

There are no border controls within the Schengen Zone once you are in.
