The highest number of road traffic casualties then occurred on Tuesdays, with a total of 80 casualties recorded.

In the last few months, Malta has recorded a significant increase in road traffic accidents, up by 18% since the same period in 2021.

Road traffic casualties increased by 8.9% to 455 over the same period in 2021. Grievously injured persons amounted to 98 and consisted of 67 drivers, 13 passengers and 18 pedestrians, cyclists, or others.

The injuries suffered by three drivers and three pedestrians proved fatal, with fatalities up by five cases when compared to last year’s period.

With more cars increasing on Malta’s roads, all drivers are in some way or another feeling the effects of much busier roads, with many voicing concerns about the level of safety on our roads.
