Malta Sees Nearly 20% Rise In June Tourist Arrivals
The Maltese islands have recorded nearly a 20% rise in tourist arrivals for the month of June, the National Statistics Office (NSO) has found in a recent survey.
Throughout June, Malta welcomed 325,940 tourists for holidays and 13,333 for business. The majority were aged 25-44 (40.6%) and 45-64 (26.9%). British, Italian, and French tourists accounted for 46.4% of arrivals.
Tourist nights increased by 18.2% compared to June 2023, exceeding 2.3 million nights, with 85.7% spent in rented accommodations. The average stay was 6.6 nights.
Tourist expenditure reached nearly €333.7 million, a 16.5% rise from June 2023, with an average spending of €145 per night.
Gozo and Comino attracted 218,004 visitors, 62.1% of the total tourists.
Meanwhile, inbound tourists to Malta for the first half of 2024 totalled 1,590,867, a 23.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Total nights spent by tourists rose by 15.7%, surpassing 9.4 million nights.
Tourist expenditure reached €1.3 billion, a 24.5% rise from the same period in 2023, with per capita spending increasing to €812 from €804.
Gozo and Comino attracted 852,089 visitors, accounting for 53.6% of total tourists.
