Malta Sees Slight Dip In Unemployment Rates In June

Unemployment figures from May indicate a slightly improved situation in June, as the rate dropped by 0.1 percentage points when compared to the previous month.
According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), the unemployment rate stood at 2.8%, representing a total of 8,322 individuals.
Men and the 25 to 74 age group were identified as the main contributors to the overall level of unemployment.
The seasonally adjusted figures showed that 2,150 youths were unemployed. Simultaneously, the number of unemployed individuals aged between 25 and 74 years was considerably higher at 6,173.
Although the changes in unemployment figures might seem modest, any decrease in unemployment is a positive indicator for the economy.
As the figures underline, the majority of unemployed individuals are between 25 to 74 years old.
This data highlights the importance of not just creating new job opportunities but also ensuring these opportunities are accessible and appealing to this age group.
