The CPD will send aid to Gaza through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism, which was set up for EU member states to respond to emergencies.
This aid was announced today during a visit by Prime Minister Robert Abela and Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri to the CPD’s Ħal Far station
Abela said that Malta will remain “a voice in favour of dialogue and peace” in the war struck region and praised the CPD for its dedication.
Palestinian ambassador to Malta Fadi Hanania thanked the Maltese government for its display of solidarity.
“Malta has been a supporter of justice and peace and of implementing the United Nations’ resolutions when it comes to Palestine,” he said. “This is another way of showing that the people still support justice and the people in Palestine and that it still calls for an immediate ceasefire.”
