Malta’s 2025 Budget To Be Presented On 28th October
The Maltese Government is set to present its Budget for 2025 on Monday 28th October.
Prime Minister Robert Abela, currently attending the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, confirmed that Finance Minister Clyde Caruana will deliver the Budget speech towards the end of next month.
Abela explained that the upcoming Budget will continue implementing the Government’s “Malta Flimkien” work program, which aims to support families and businesses while addressing new national priorities.
He emphasised that the Budget will tie fiscal incentives to five key priorities designed to direct the country’s economic trajectory, adding that the government will focus on strengthening the middle class through reductions in income tax rates.
A key principle of the 2025 Budget, according to Abela, will be improving the quality of life for all Maltese citizens. This includes not only providing financial incentives but also ensuring that citizens can enjoy the benefits of these policies in a peaceful and secure environment.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the importance of the ongoing consultation process with social partners and the public, highlighting how social dialogue will shape the Budget’s direction for the year ahead and beyond.
Despite international economic challenges, Abela noted that Malta’s economy remains strong and resilient, with experts now predicting higher growth than previously anticipated. He stressed that the government’s goal is to ensure sustainable growth, with a focus on quality investments that offer added value and require fewer low-skilled workers.
Key areas for capital investment in the upcoming Budget will include the environment, infrastructure, health, and education. The government will also aim to strengthen the fiscal situation through strategic and targeted investments.
