Malta first-ever pro-choice rally will take place this Saturday, Voice for Choice have announced. 

The main aims of the event are to raise “awareness on the challenges that pregnant people in Malta face to access safe abortion services” and to “challenge the stigma and taboo on Maltese women who have abortions”.

The rally is taking place on Saturday 28th September on International Safe Abortion Day, from 14:00 – 17:00 at Hastings Gardens, Valletta and will include a variety of art, music, drama, interviews and speeches.

The topic of abortion remains taboo in Malta, however, the debate has reached the mainstream after several pro-choice groups began to form around the island, including one involving medical professionals.
