Two of Malta’s most impressive athletes have just been crowned Athletes Of The Year during Athletics Malta’s Awards Night.

The awards show aims to celebrate and recognise some of Malta’s top sporting talent, signalling the up and coming athletes as ones to watch.

Long-jumper Jeremy Zammit was awarded for his impeccable year in which he beat the national-17-year-old record for the greatest jump at a whopping 7.73m.

He would also go on to be the first 17-year-old athlete to reach the European and World Championship.

Meanwhile Janet Richard became the first woman to beat the 400m sprint within just 53.49 seconds a few months back. Still in disbelief at her achievement, Janet wrote ‘‘still need time to process what just happened’’ under a picture of her celebrating.

Jeremy recently teamed up with local presenter Ben Camille for an interview.

When asked about his future plans, Jeremy told Camille that he’s striving to be the first Maltese athlete to compete in the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Lovin Malta congratulates Jeremy and Janet on their incredible accomplishments and wishes them the very best for what’s to come!
