Malta’s Pet Cemetery Might Not Be Delivered By End Of Year As Promised By Minister

Animal Rights Minister Anton Refalo has refused to say whether the proposed animal cemetery will be completed by the end of the year as promised.

A few months ago, Refalo told MP Rebekah Cilia following a parliamentary question that it would be finished by the end of 2022.

However, his latest response seems to indicate that there are delays, now telling Cilia that it will be completed in this legislature, which ends in 2027.

The project has been delayed before. The 2,000-square-metre pet cemetery was first promised in 2015 and will be built in the Ta’ Qali area.

However, funds were only issued in 2020 while SP Building Material Limited was awarded the tender in 2021.

The cemetery will include a burial ground for cats and dogs and will also include a car park.

Will the cemetery ever be completed?
