The Malta Women’s Under-15 team ended their UEFA Development Tournament campaign on a high, securing a third consecutive win against Luxembourg to top their group in a historic achievement.

The match was a straight battle for first place, as both Malta and Luxembourg had won their opening two games, with Luxembourg claiming one victory on penalties.

Despite missing key players, captain Amberley Borg and Katrina Catania, due to injury, coach Kirsten Attard made tactical changes, bringing in Shanaia Mifsud and Kylie Pullicino, with Martina Mendez Vasquez stepping up as captain.

The first half saw limited action, but Malta broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with a stunning goal from Kylie Pullicino, whose effort easily beat Luxembourg’s goalkeeper Fernandes da Costa.

Malta maintained control throughout the match, with Luxembourg only managing a few chances.

The Maltese girls held strong in the final minutes, securing a 1-0 win.

Malta’s victory capped off a week of 1-0 wins, having also beaten Andorra and the Faroe Islands, marking a remarkable tournament for the team.

Well done girls!
